Jakob Hefti is a Swiss horn player and chamber musician born on September 12, 1947, in Schwanden, Glarus. He studied in Zürich, Amsterdam, and under Hermann Baumann in Essen. He served as the principal hornist for the Städtisches Orchester St. Gallen from 1971 to 1973, and for the Berner Symphonie Orchester from 1973 to 1975. He was the first principal hornist at the Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich for over three decades, focusing on works by Gustav Mahler and Anton Bruckner. Since 1983, he has taught horn, natural horn, and chamber music at the Lucerne University of Music.
