Jahangir Alam Chowdhury is a retired Bangladeshi Army officer and current advisor to the interim government. He retired as a three-star Lieutenant General from the Bangladesh Army. He was the head of the Bangladesh Rifles (now BGB) during a conflict with the Indian Border Security Force. Additionally, he served as the former Principal Staff Officer of the Bangladesh Army and was elevated to the position of Quartermaster General. He is credited with advising the President of Bangladesh to declare a state of emergency in 2007, leading to military rule.
