He later founded his own engineering firm, SECOA, and also owned the café Les Deux Magots. Mathivat held prominent roles in various engineering associations and taught at several esteemed institutions. His contributions to the field were recognized with multiple awards, including the Albert-Caquot Prize and the title of Knight of the Legion of Honor.
