Jacques Brunschwig was a French historian of philosophy and a professor of philosophy at the University of Paris I. Born on April 27, 1929, in Paris, he contributed significantly to the study of philosophy before his passing on April 16, 2010, in Antony, Hauts-de-Seine. He was also a cousin of the ancient historian Pierre Vidal-Naquet.
