Jacobus Marie Prange (1904-1972) was a Dutch graphic artist and art critic known for his etchings and lithographs, often characterized by a somber tone. He taught at the Rotterdam Academy from 1943 to 1946 and worked as an art critic for Het Parool, where he was invited by Simon Carmiggelt. Prange was critical of modern abstract art and wrote 'De God Hai-Hai en rabarber' in 1957, opposing contemporary art policies, particularly regarding the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam. He also used pseudonyms like S. Gaetano and Jan Rap.
