Jackie Joyner-Kersee, born on March 3, 1952, in East St. Louis, Illinois, is a retired American athlete renowned for her expertise in long jump and multi-events. She competed in four Olympic Games, starting with the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics where she won a bronze medal in heptathlon. In the 1988 Seoul Olympics, she became champion in both heptathlon and long jump, followed by more medals at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. She is also a notable world champion, winning titles in heptathlon and long jump during various World Athletics Championships.
