John Alexander Bentley (1913–1994) was a notable English trombonist, journalist, and scriptwriter. He played an integral role in the brass sections of Jack Hylton's Orchestra and Ted Heath's big band from 1937 until the mid-1950s. Following his performance career, he transitioned to journalism, becoming the show business editor for the Sunday Mirror newspaper. Bentley was married to the actress Wendy Craig from 1955 until his death in 1994.
