Jaap Verkerk was a Dutch politician and member of the Labour Party (PvdA). He served as the head of general affairs at the municipality of Hoogwoud before becoming the mayor of Nigtevecht in August 1974. From 1980 to 1998, he was the mayor of Roden and briefly acted as the mayor of Peize in 1987. After the merger of Peize, Norg, and Roden into the municipality of Noordenveld in 1998, he became its mayor until his early retirement in September 2001. He passed away at the age of 75.
