Jacobus Cornelus Theresia (Jaap) van der Doef is a Dutch former politician born on April 9, 1934, in Doorn. He is best known for serving as Secretary of State for Transport and Water Management in the Van Agt II cabinet. Initially active in the Catholic People's Party (KVP), he later joined the Labour Party (PvdA). He was elected to the House of Representatives in 1973 and ran for PvdA chairman in 1975. After serving in his cabinet role until the cabinet's fall in 1982, he returned to the House until 1986 and then served as mayor of Vlissingen until 1999.
