John Matthew Ranson, born on July 26, 1938, is a former England international rugby union player. He played as a wing threequarter for the national team, representing England eleven times between 1963 and 1964, which included seven test match caps. Ranson scored two test tries during his career, including one on his debut against New Zealand in Auckland. He was educated at Durham School and has been associated with several club teams, including Durham City and Rosslyn Park. He is also the son of Jack Ranson, a former professional footballer.
