Currently, she is a Professor in the Department of Immunology and Microbiology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Early in her career, she discovered attenuation, a mechanism of gene expression control representing the first example of riboswitches, which plays a crucial role in cellular regulation.
