Iuliu G. Șamșudan was a Romanian professor, politician, and astronomer, born on May 7, 1945, in Bocșa, Sălaj, Romania. He served as the president of the Sălaj branch of the Romanian Social Democratic Party during its time in power and was the general secretary of the Sălaj Prefecture under the Democratic Convention government. His removal from this position in April 2001 led to scandals and court cases involving the Constitutional Court and the High Court of Cassation and Justice. He earned a doctorate in 1986 from Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj.
