Isuo Hirota (February 2, 1935 – September 18, 2011) was a Japanese psychiatrist from Uozu, Toyama Prefecture. He graduated from the University of Tokyo Faculty of Medicine in 1961 and joined the psychiatry department. Hirota worked at Matsuzawa Hospital and later at Sanmaihashi Hospital, where he became a director. He was the chairman of the Hospital Community Mental Health Association and represented Japan in the International Medical Professionals Committee at the UN NGO. He was also a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists in the UK, advocating for patient rights and active in the Utsunomiya Hospital incident.
