Ismo Kajander, born on December 31, 1939, in Turku, is a Finnish artist, writer, gallerist, and teacher since the early 1960s. He studied at the Turku Art Association drawing school and the University of Helsinki. Kajander taught photography for fifteen years and served as the principal of Turku Drawing School from 1988 to 1997. He was a significant figure in Finnish photography, co-founding Finland's first photography gallery, Hippolyte, in 1978. His work includes socially engaged assemblages and photographic books, with a notable retrospective in 2015 showcasing his half-century artistic career.
