Ismael de Araújo Silva Netto, known as Ismael Neto, was a Brazilian guitarist, arranger, singer, and composer. Born on December 7, 1925, in Belém and passed away on January 31, 1956, in Rio de Janeiro, he founded the popular vocal group Os Cariocas during the bossa nova era. He was known for composing significant MPB classics like 'Valsa de uma cidade' and 'O último beijo.' After his untimely death at age 30, his sister Hortênsia Silva took his place in Os Cariocas.
