Irina Viktorovna Tikhomirnova was a Soviet ballet dancer and teacher, born on July 18, 1917, in Moscow. She was a soloist at the Bolshoi Theatre and became a Distinguished Artist of the RSFSR in 1951. She was awarded the Stalin Prize (I degree) in 1947. In 1966, she co-founded the Young Ballet troupe alongside Igor Moiseyev, which is now known as the Theatre of Classical Ballet. Tikhomirnova was the second wife of dancer and educator Asaf Messerer.
