Irene Obera is an accomplished American track and field athlete born on December 7, 1933. Specializing in sprinting events, she has set numerous world records and won multiple championships. Despite entering athletics relatively late, she competed in the 1960 and 1968 Olympic Trials and became a pioneer in Masters athletics. Obera has held records in various age groups and received recognition as USATF Athlete of the Week. With a career in education, she became the first female continuation school principal in Berkeley, California, while inspiring many through her athletic achievements.
