Ira Cassius Kepford (1919-1987) was a renowned American flying ace during World War II, credited with shooting down 16 enemy aircraft while serving with the VF-17 'Jolly Rogers' in the U.S. Navy. He was the Navy's leading ace by April 1944. Prior to his military service, he was a standout football player at Northwestern University and served as a Navy reservist. After the war, he rose to become the President of Liggett Drug Company, retiring in 1960.
