Iordan Chimet (November 18, 1924 – May 23, 2006) was a Romanian poet, children's writer, and essayist whose work was inspired by surrealism and oneirism. He was also known for his memoirs, plays, art and film criticism, publishing, and translation. Chimet faced persecution from the communist regime for his opposition to totalitarianism and lived much of his life in obscurity. Despite being largely ignored locally, his poetry and fantastical tales are celebrated for their unique stylistic qualities and exploration of innocence and melancholy.
