Ingrid Daubechies, born on August 17, 1954, is a Belgian physicist and mathematician renowned for her research in wavelets and their application in image compression. One of the world's most recognized mathematicians, she is credited with advancing mathematical techniques that enhance image compression technology. A member of the National Academy of Engineering, National Academy of Sciences, and American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Daubechies also received the MacArthur Fellowship in 1992. Her work includes developing complex image processing techniques used to authenticate and date famous artworks.
