Ilm-ud-din, also spelled Alim-ud-din (December 4, 1908 - October 31, 1929), was a Punjabi Muslim carpenter who gained notoriety for killing the publisher Mahash Rajpal due to the publication of the book Rangila Rasul, which was deemed disrespectful to the Islamic prophet Muhammad by Muslims. As a consequence of his actions, he was sentenced to death. Ilm-ud-din was elevated to the status of a ghazi among his followers. A full-length feature film has been made about him in Pakistan, and he has been depicted multiple times on Pakistan television.
