Ija Lazari-Pawłowska was a Polish philosopher and ethicist, born on May 8, 1921, in Arniszyce, near Smolensk. She died on November 10, 1994, in Lodz. Lazari-Pawłowska authored works on metaethics and contemporary ethics and continued the works of notable philosophers Maria Ossowska and Tadeusz Kotarbiński. She established the Chair of Ethics at the University of Lodz and obtained her habilitation in 1962 with a dissertation on Gandhi's ethics. She contributed to various academic societies and championed honorary doctorates, notably for Leszek Kołakowski.
