He was also a member of the Legislative Council. Born on October 6, 1929, his father was the former Governor of Nigeria, Sir John Macpherson. His wife, Cheung Luk Ping, was the first Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Consumer Council, and he was the brother-in-law of the famous singer Leslie Cheung.
