Howard Frederick Yerges Jr. was an American college football player, celebrated for his role as a quarterback for the Ohio State Buckeyes in 1943 and the Michigan Wolverines from 1944 to 1947. Notably, he was the starting quarterback for the renowned 1947 Michigan team, which finished undefeated and triumphed over USC 49–0 in the Rose Bowl, widely regarded as one of the greatest teams in Michigan history. As of 2009, he was one of only three players to participate in both sides of the Michigan–Ohio State rivalry.
