Howard Davis is an American writer and professor of architecture at the University of Oregon. He studied physics and earned a master's in architecture from UC Berkeley, working with Christopher Alexander. Known for his research on vernacular architecture, he authored 'The Culture of Building' and collaborated on 'The Production of Houses'. His ongoing research focuses on urban mixed-use buildings and American architectural education. His latest work, 'Living Over the Store', explores architecture's relationship with local urban life. He was also a founding co-editor of the journal 'Buildings & Landscapes'.
