Howard B. Eichenbaum was an influential American psychologist and neuroscientist known for his research on the hippocampus, a critical brain region for memory. He served as a university professor and was the director of the Center for Memory and Brain at Boston University. Earlier in his career, he worked at Wellesley College. Eichenbaum also held the position of editor-in-chief for the scientific journal Hippocampus, contributing significantly to the field of memory research before his passing in 2017.
