Horst Franke, known as 'Hotta', was a German football player born on January 23, 1929, in Grube Marga, Brandenburg. He played for BSG Aktivist Brieske-Ost and SC Aktivist Brieske-Senftenberg in the DDR-Oberliga from 1949 to 1962, appearing in 294 matches and scoring 73 goals. Franke passed away on November 14, 2006. His contributions to the sport during the post-war era in East Germany, particularly for the 'Briesker Knappen', are well noted.
