Archdeacon Hone Kaa (1941-2012) was an influential Auckland-based Anglican church leader and advocate for child welfare and social justice. Of Ngāti Porou and Ngāti Kahungunu descent, he grew up in Rangitukia and Bombay, attending St. Stephen's School. Kaa trained as a priest and served in various roles, including Archdeacon of Tāmaki Makaurau. He was actively involved in the anti-apartheid movement and the White Ribbon Campaign against domestic violence. Kaa contributed to Māori media and served on significant boards. He died in Auckland following a brief battle with lung cancer.
