He is recognized as a revolutionary figure in Japanese military history and is notably one of the first casualties among the Japanese navy personnel during wartime. Posthumously, he was promoted to the rank of Navy Lieutenant Commander due to his valor in combat, which reflects his significant contribution and dedication to his country.
