Hirotoshi Fukuda (福田 宏年) was a Japanese literary critic, German literature scholar, and translator, born on August 31, 1927, and passing away on June 8, 1997. His expertise included essays and travel writings related to mountaineering, as well as translations of German literature. He focused on modern German novels, particularly those by Thomas Mann, Theodor Fontane, and Robert Musil. Fukuda was also known for his close relationship with the family of author Yasushi Inoue, producing significant works about him, including 'The World of Yasushi Inoue' and 'Biography of Yasushi Inoue.'
