Hiroshi Hoshina is a Japanese composer and conductor born on January 31, 1936, in Tokyo, Japan. He studied music at the National University of Fine Arts and Music in Tokyo, specializing in composition. Hoshina won the Mainichi Music Composition Contest in 1987 for his piece 'Aside' from the composition 'Fu-Mon.' He is known for writing mandatory works for the All Japan Band Contest and his opera related to the Hiroshima atomic bombing received worldwide acclaim. Currently, he is a professor at Hyogo University of Education and Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music.
