Hiroaki Tanaka (October 11, 1959 - December 30, 2004) was a haiku poet from Osaka Prefecture, Japan. He studied under Sōha Hatano and later founded and edited the haiku magazine 'Yū.' In 1983, he won the Kadowaka Haiku Award at the age of 22, making him the youngest recipient at that time. Known for his fresh poetic style rooted in haiku tradition, he played a vital role in the new wave of the haiku community but tragically passed away young due to leukemia.
