Hilja Valkeapää, born Hilja Loviisa Honkanen on June 3, 1912, in Maironiemi, Parikkala, was a Finnish farmer and author. She grew up in a farming family and received education at Kansakoulu and Kotkan kauppaoppilaitos. Her first story was published in 1933, and she won a literary competition in 1945 with her novel 'Talo puiden varjossa'. Valkeapää married farmer Maunu Honkanen in 1947 and wrote several novels and articles under various pseudonyms throughout her life.
