Hideji Kosaka was a Japanese dentist, sumo commentator, author, and announcer born on March 16, 1918. During World War II, he served as a military doctor and worked in a Chinese army hospital until the war's end. After the war, he became a sports announcer focusing on sumo for NHK and TBS until his retirement in 1974. He returned to dentistry in 1975 and also pursued a career in writing and commentary, being notably recognized for coining the term 'Kashiwazaki-Pon period' in sumo.
