Hewitt V. "Hoots" Lounsbury was an American engineer and politician born on February 22, 1911. He served as the mayor of Anchorage, Alaska from 1958 to 1959. Lounsbury moved to Alaska in 1944 and founded an engineering firm in 1949. He had three sons and died at age 59 in Honolulu, Hawaii, on January 9, 1971. His son Loren followed his career path in business and politics.
