Brigadier General (Ret.) Herman Pieters was an Indonesian independence fighter and the first commander of the XV/Pattimura military command from Maluku. Born into the Pieter family in Negeri Erie, Ambon, on December 17, 1924, he pursued his education in electrical engineering and attended military staff school during the 1950s and 1960s. He passed away on December 12, 1996, at RSPAD Gatot Soebroto and was buried in Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in Jakarta.
