Henk de Kort was a Dutch politician born on February 10, 1934, in Kerkwijk. He was initially a member of the ARP and later the CDA, serving in local politics starting in 1970. De Kort held several positions, including city council member, alderman, and acting mayor of Kerkwijk. He unexpectedly became mayor in 1988 after a proposed municipal reorganization fell through. His tenure ended in 1999 when Kerkwijk merged into Zaltbommel, and he was later honored as an honorary citizen. He passed away on August 15, 2018, at the age of 84.
