Helmut G. Hinghofer-Szalkay is an Austrian physiologist and emeritus professor based in Graz. He served as the head of the Institute of Physiology at Karl-Franzens University and later at the Medical University of Graz. He founded and directed a nonprofit research institute focused on adaptive and space physiology. Additionally, he has been a scientific consultant for the European Space Agency (ESA). Born on January 22, 1948, in Graz, he is married with two children.
