Helen Hornbeck Tanner (1916–2011) was a prominent American advocate for Native American rights and a historian. She actively supported Native American communities by arguing their cases in court and meticulously documented the tribes of the Great Lakes in 1987. Tanner was recognized for her contributions and was inducted into the Michigan Women's Hall of Fame in 2006. Her work played an important role in raising awareness about Native American issues and preserving their histories.
