Heidi Shyu is an American engineer born on September 28, 1953, in Taipei, Taiwan. She currently serves as the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering in the Biden administration, a position she has held since July 25, 2021. Previously, Shyu was the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics, and Technology from 2012 to early 2016. In recognition of her contributions to radar and electrooptics systems supportive of the US Army and Air Force, she was elected to the National Academy of Engineering in 2019.
