She is a prominent figure in contemporary tanka poetry, serving as a lecturer for NHK Gakuen and a member of the Modern Poets Association. Ikeda has published several poetry collections and has received various accolades, including the Tanka Research Rookie Award and the Maekawa Samio Prize. In addition to her poetry, she is an avid sumo supporter and also writes essays themed around sumo.
