Harry Hoijer (September 6, 1904 – March 11, 1976) was a linguist and anthropologist who primarily studied Apachean cultures and languages. He documented the Tonkawa language, which is now extinct, and his works constitute much of the existing material on it. Hoijer significantly contributed to the documentation of Southern Apachean languages and Pacific Coast Apachean languages, as well as the reconstruction of Proto-Apachean. He was a student of Edward Sapir and coined the term 'Sapir-Whorf hypothesis'.
