Harrison Begay, known as Haashké yah Níyá, was a prominent Diné (Navajo) painter, printmaker, and illustrator born on November 15, 1914 or 1917 and passed away on August 18, 2012. He was especially noted for his work in watercolors, gouache, and silkscreen prints. As the last living former student of esteemed artists Dorothy Dunn and Geronima C. Montoya from the Santa Fe Indian School at the time of his death, his art received numerous accolades and is showcased in museums and private collections around the globe.
