Hakusui Ito (May 15, 1911 – September 1, 1999) was a prominent Japanese haiku poet from Tokyo. His birth name was Isamu. After becoming an orphan early in life, he began writing haiku in 1931. He founded the haiku magazine 'Kachō' in 1945 and later became involved with traditional haiku associations, serving as a permanent director and vice president. His poetic style was distinguished by high elegance and charm. He co-authored works including 'Ni' with Aiko Morita and he is commemorated with a haiku museum in Sabae, Fukui.
