He graduated from Keio University, where he published several novels, including 'Seasonal Outlook,' 'Talent,' and 'New Mita School.' Takaiwa began his career in film with the screenplay for 'The Emotion of Youth' in 1939. He continued to write screenplays primarily for Toei and Daiei starting in 1951. His prolific output and contributions to Japanese cinema have been significant. He passed away on January 28, 2000, due to renal failure.
