Hajime Maekawa (February 23, 1931 - March 11, 1985) was a Japanese jazz musician and alto saxophonist born in Osaka. He became a professional musician in 1950 and played in numerous bands. In 1957, he joined the band Sharp & Flats, becoming the concertmaster and working alongside notable musicians like trumpeter Shuzou Morikawa and trombonist Tadao Taniyama. He was known for his arrangements and had a successful career spanning 25 years until he left due to illness, eventually living in Yonago, Tottori in his later years.
