Haïm Attar was a pioneering Jewish artist who emigrated to Palestine from Ukraine in 1922. He was actively involved in draining the marshes of Galilee and founded the Kibbutz Eïn-Harod. Educated in the Jewish tradition, Attar studied in Paris and was influenced by Eastern European Jewish artists. He painted portraits and still lifes, often featuring family members. In 1937, he established an art school in Eïn-Harod, and after his death in 1953, a museum dedicated to his work was created, now the most significant art museum in Northern Israel.
