His Holiness Dorje Chang Buddha III, born Yi Yungao, was a Chinese-American artist and Buddhist leader. Claiming to be the third reincarnation of Dorje Chang, he faced skepticism from various Buddhists. He was born in 1951 in Sichuan and moved to the U.S. in 1999, settling in Pasadena, California. In addition to his Vajradhara claim, Yi also identified as the second reincarnation of Vimalakirti and asserted that he performed miracles. He had numerous affluent followers across Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, and China.
