As a defender, he played for Porvoon Weikot in the TUL leagues and the 1st division from 1940 to 1948. He later played for Kiffeni in the premier division from 1949 to 1953, winning a bronze medal in the Finnish Championships in 1949. Over five seasons, he participated in 80 premier division matches, scoring seven goals. He also represented the national team in three matches between 1948 and 1952.
