Georgy Pavlovich Dzagourov (November 15, 1917 – 1942) was a Soviet chess player known for his tactical style. He notably defeated grandmasters in simultaneous games and tournament matches. Dzagourov won the 1940 chess championship at the Moscow Aviation Institute, where he bested future World Champion Vasily Smyslov. He tragically lost his life in battle during the early stages of World War II.
